First off, let me start off by saying I have never participated in a blog tour before. But, when my dear friend, Julie Ford was looking for participants I quickly volunteered. The book is called The Woman He Married. It is a quick read with a light, airy, easy to follow story line that grabs readers with both hands and won't let go, leaving them wanting more.
It is about a woman, Josie (Jocelyn) and her struggles going from world travels righting wrongs with her college love (Brian) to 11 years later being a stay-at-home mother of 3 and wife to a judicial candidate (John) of a local, small down in Alabama. Being a stay-at-home mom of 4 from the south myself, I couldn't help but laugh (and cringe) at some of the similarities between Josie and myself. When she finds out about her husbands indiscretions, she is forced to dig deep, heal some wounds, right some wrongs of her own, and do some soul searching to figure out what she really wanted out of life. It was refreshing to read about a woman who chose to stay at home with her children and make her dream of having a family come true. In this day and age I feel like its almost a thing of the past when a mother stays home to care for her children, her home and her family. A highlight of the story for me, included reading about John trying to do the carpooling for the day. Picking kids up from school, dance, dropping off kids, etc. made me laugh pretty hard. It also brought up some questions we tend to ask ourselves as mothers quite frequently- What if I missed out on something bigger, better, more exciting, etc.? All in all it was a very good book and I am really looking forward to the sequel coming out in November.
